The annual celebration of the Feast of St. Patrick is always a very joyful and edifying event not only for Irish Catholics, but for All Catholics of the Archdiocese, very well aware that St. Patrick through his missionaries had produced many conversions throughout the world and had touched many Catholic lives. So we All come to thank God for His gift of St.Patrick to us as we honor St. Patrick with our celebrations.
Most Rev. Bishop O'Connor spoke of Patrick's life in captivity as a slave, his escape and ordination as priest, returned to Ireland, country of his captivity, evangelizing Ireland, and converting many Irish people. His greatest virtue is Love of God with complete dependence on God, hid deep prayer life which obtaining for him the Grace to forgive without counting. We do well to emulate St. Patrick and ask for his intercession.
After Mass, worshipers received blessed shamrocks to grace their homes and were also entertained with a wonderful reception, with Irish dance and songs. Members of Legion of Mary attended the Mass and reception, and left joyful and grateful for all the blessings received, and thanking the Rector of the Cathedral, Very Rev. Kevin O.Leary, VF, for his wonderful contribution to the celebrations.
